. . Final Project Progress . .
February 23, 2011
If there is anyone reading this ( at this point I doubt it ), this is part of the final project before I can purchase ” kit ” tattoo machines and learn the application process of tattoo’s. 10 Sheets of custom “flash” , drawn, painted, printable and one each sheet has a theme or subject in which I have to draw.
I have been feeling better and better about the birds I have been drawing lately, so I decided to lay out my first sheet of “flash”. About a week later, I did not like what I had drawn and did not like the positions of anything. This last few days I have been redrawing/sketching more and more and more. Here are some sketches from February of birds, hopefully I can complete the first sheet of ten asap! Then continue to progress and learn and keep going.
Just sketches for the moment.
.. Inspiration ..
January 31, 2011
I used to have another sketch blog/tumblr of my tattoo apprenticeship progress, somehow I have no access to it anymore, so here I am.
This blog is to keep another record of my progression through the apprenticeship process, besides the physical sketchbooks/tracing paper/watercolor disasters and practice that I have accumulated over the past year here at artcore tattoo studios and my personal art space at home.
I have been spending a lot of time searching, reading and finding inspiration all around me, but lately it has been in the form of seldom seen interviews and videos on youtube/vimeo. ( or at least it seems that way, since many of the views are under 10K and have some of these videos have been up since 2008 or so, some more recent )

Inspiration, at least for me, has been endless hours of searching out some of my favorite tattoo artists/painters/artists in general and then following the endless loop of links provided through blogroll’s and comments and friends of friends of friends networking. Whew! The above links and pictures are what I have been obsessing over this last month. I am in awe of how hard they work and how much time they have dedicated to what they do. It makes me feel lazy, to say the least, but I know that if I continue doing what I am and have been doing this past year, I have a shot.
If you have the time, please check out all of the links on the blogroll, I promise you will not be disappointed. That is, unless you do not like talented people documenting their works and passion.
” I’ve worked 10 years every day. Doing the best that I can do, trying to learn, trying to get better and strive for something that I’ve never attained. I am consciously trying to have better ideas, better technique, better execution. How can I not be decent at what I am doing? Its not necessarily anything to do with talent, it has to do with drive, with being excited. ” – Shawn Barber
